I am a total stranger, but have been admiring your work for a while. The church, house and studio all look like a dream, so beautiful and perfect. I am working in NYC and trying to be a potter part-time. Now, if only I could leave the city...

Hi Ayumi, Driving by today, I saw that the church was for sale. Sorry to see you are leaving the area, but happy you are doing it because it's your choice. I've always lived here near my family and have a strong connection to them. Maine is also one of my favorite places, having visited there several times. I wish you much happiness!! Sometime soon I hope to order one of your cups. Denise (I was in the tile class at WSW, as a reminder - so that you don't think you are receiving this message from a total stranger)

Sure, beginners would be fine, but might be a better fit for advanced students

Hi Ayumi,

What about private lessons for beginners? Are these lessons just for persons that already work with ceramics?

Basically it's a bottomless cylinder that's cut and pinched into shape with an attached slab at the bottom. The dry slip is a perfect surface for striking, though I add lots of detail to there form so that there's more texture to create friction. Stoneware or any clay with grog with also work well, I think. I say, go for it!
