
Ayumi Horie is a full-time studio potter who lives in the Hudson Valley of New York and makes functional pots, mainly with drawings of animals. She is the first recipient of Ceramics Monthly’s “Ceramic Artist of the Year” award. Ayumi travels widely nationally and internationally to give lectures and workshop and has been on the board of directors of the Archie Bray Foundation since 2004. In 2011, the day after the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, she co-founded Handmade For Japan which has raised over $100,000 thus far.
