THIS IS A HUGE DEAL! The Craft Archive Fellowship THIS IS A HUGE DEAL! The Craft Archive Fellowship has launched and supports 6 grants of $5,000 each to “foster archival research on underrepresented and non-dominant craft histories in the United States, such as feminist, intersectional, queer, Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian American and Pacific Islander, and other communities and approaches that may not be specifically listed here.”
So much gratitude and admiration for @marilynzapf of @centerforcraft who took the seed of an idea that I brought to her a year ago and made it into a rigorously researched and fully funded reality.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT? These fellowships will rewrite craft histories that have been forgotten, erased, mistold, misrepresented, incomplete, and unknown. It will generate CITABLE material that can be used in Wikipedia entries, papers, journals etc and can be built upon by future scholars. By revising craft history, we will also be changing the present to be more equitable and to actually tell the truth of the systems that shape craft today.
@saraclugage was instrumental in helping make this grant possible with her wisdom and support. Also a huge shoutout to @alejandroacierto, @julianabarton, @andycampy, Esther Choi @officehours.design, Sarah DeMott, Kayleigh Perkov, @namitapdx, Cassandra Smith, Felicia Bartley, Heather Bruegl, Blaire Topash-Caldwel and @jennisorkin, the John and Robyn Horn Foundation, Barbara Benisch, Jacque Allen, and Jess Parker. Thanks to all those who helped and also to @craftcouncil and @hyperallergic for partnering with us!
Register for the info session on May 31 to learn more. Deadline June 27. Link in bio. Please share this to your stories so we can get the word out!

Potter Question- are you still double boxing? I ha Potter Question- are you still double boxing? I have for years left a 2"gap all the way around the inner box for insurance purposes, but recently have gotten pots in the mail that are single boxed where the pot is floating around in peanuts. I'm always shocked when I see packing like that, but maybe there is a middle ground where I don't have to bomb-proof the box? What are all of you potters doing these days for a single cup? Thanks in advance and thanks to all of you who came to the Lottery and Sale yesterday!

I’m immensely proud of the work that the board o I’m immensely proud of the work that the board of the @haystack_school accomplished last weekend. We gathered at @indigoartssalliance to consider, hash through, think and debate and deliberate about a bunch of tough issues through the lens of equity. We bid a fond farewell to Paul Sacaridiz and welcomed in our well-loved Interim ED, @ellenweiske, all as we prepare to launch a search for a new ED. How do we bring our authentic selves to our work as trustees? As President, I opted for #拍子木 #hyōshigi (Japanese clappers), instead of a gavel, to open and close our meetings, because contrary to common perceptions, board culture does and should change with individuals and the times. We keep the core of Haystack while also bringing our full selves to our jobs as trustees of this amazing organization. Thank you to our wonderful staff, the trustees who took three days, plus travel, out of their busy schedules, and to Marcia Minter @marlismin and the team at Indigo for hosting us.  #haystackschoolofcrafts #indigoartsalliance
